Le drapeau

Ca c'est quand on est arrivées. J'étais fatiguée et pourtant tout à fait réveillée. Kristine m'a demandé d'attendre dehors et je ne comprenais pas pourquoi Orane avait un grand sourire quand j'ai vu Kristine sortir le drapeau américain et le mettre devant la porte pour moi lol. Trop le classe hein!!

That's when we arrived. I was very tired but still completely awaken. Kristine asked me to wait outside and I didn't understand why Orane had such a great smile when I saw Kristine coming out of the house with an american flag et hanging it next to the front door for me lol. So cool right!!!

Retrouver Orane

J'ai fait un petit tour à l'aéroport pour retrouver Orane et on s'est finalement vues près du tapis a bagages. Kristine était venue seule me chercher avec Orane, Brad gardant les enfants. On est montées dans le coffre [qui offre 2 siège prévus a cet effet] et on a mis 40 min pour rentrer à la maison en passant par le périphérique de Portland. Première vue de la ville de nuit.

I walked a bit in the airport to find Orane et we finally saw each other close from the luggages place. Kristine had come alone with Orane, Brad had to stay with the kids. We got in the trunk of the car (having 2 seats especially fot that) and it took us 40 minutes to get back home by the Portland ringroad. First vision of the city by night.

Portland

On a embarque dans un avion 2x plus petit que celui de Bruxelles-Atlanta et j'étais au tout dernier rang avec un homme d'une quarantaine d' année avec qui j'ai bien parlé une petite heure aussi. Ensuite j'ai essayé de dormir donc le vol m'a paru ne durer que 20 minutes. Arrivée là-bas vers 10h40 du soir j'ai été prendre mes bagages qui étaient bien arrivés [ouf] mais je me suis rendue compte que les gens pouvaient rentrer et aller partout dans cet aéroport donc Orane pouvait être n'importe où, à ma porte d'embarquement, aux bagages, n'importe où. J'ai retrouvé la dame avec qui j'avais parlé à Atlanta et on à discuté en attendant les bagages. elle est sa famille m'ont proposé de telephoner mais ça servait à rien vu que je croyais qu'ils étaient tous partis pour me chercher.

We boarded in a plane twice smaller than the one from Brussels-Atlanta and a was seating at the last seat with a fourty-year-old man with whom I also talked for a small hour. After I tried to sleep so the flight seemed to me to have last like 20 minutes. Arrived there at around 10.40 PM, I went to take my luggages who had arrived (fiuu), but I realised there that people could come in the airport and could go everywhere in the airport so Orane could be anywhere. At my boarding gate, at luggages, anywhere. I saw the old lady I had talked with and we talked again, waiting the luggages. She and her family proposed me to call the Larsons but it would have been useles because I thought the had all left to come and fetch me at the airport.

Atlanta

Je suis arrivée à Atlanta avec une heure de retard et j'avais 2 h d'attente pour mon avion vers Portland (Oregon). Là on a déjà du attendre environ 3/4 d'heure au bureau de l'immigration. Quand c'était mon tour il ont pris mes empreintes digitale et une photo (°_O) puis le gars c'est rendu compte que j'avais pas rempli l'envers du document et s'est mis a poser des question genre "transportez-vous une arme" ou "transportez-vous des explosifs" (double °_0) alors je lui ai dit "Ai-je l'air d'un terroriste?" Heureusement il a rigolé ^^. Dans Atlanta je me suis baladée et j'ai été boire un café chez Starbucks. Les gens étaient super sympas. Dans les magasins, les gens vous demande si tout vous convient et si vous allez bien. Au début ça fait bizarre. Pendant ma balade, j'ai croisé beaucoup de GI's et la, à tous les voir comme ça, je n'ai pas pu m'empêcher de prendre une phto. Notre avion pour Portland a été fort retardé car des gens voulaient embarquer en dernière minute. J'ai parlé avec un vieille dame super sympa pendant une heure et demie. On a enfin pu embarquer pour un voyage de 5 heures à 6h24 heure locale.


I arrived at Atlanta an hour late et I had 2 hours to wait for my flight to Portland (Oregon). There, we had to wait 3 quaters to pass the immigration. When it was my turn, he took my fingerprints and a picture (°_0) then the guy saw I had forgotten to fill in the back of the document and asked me question like "do you carry a weapon" or "do you carry explosives" (double °_0) so I told him "Do i look like a terrorist?" Fortunately, he laughed^^. In Atlanta I moved around in the airport and I went to drink something at Starbucks. People were very nice. In the stores, people ask you if everything suits you and if you're ok. At the beginning it feels weird. During my walk, I saw a lot of Gi's and there, seing them all there, I couldn't help to take a picture. Our plane to Portland had been very much delayed because people wanted to board at the last minute. I spoke with an old lady very nice for an our and a half. We have finally been allowed to board for a 5 hours trip at 6.25 PM local time.

Bruxelles

Voila, après les présentations, rentront dans le vif du sujet!! Je suis partie de l'aéroport de Bruxelles National par le vol Delta 125 à destination d'Atlanta (Géorgie). Je devais quitter le sol belge à 10h30 du matin mais un retard de l'avion fait que j'ai du prendre le suivant, celui de 11h30. Voici donc mon avion à 11h30 devant la porte d'embarquement. A venir, un voyage de 9h.

Now, after the presentation, let begin to talk about the real subject!! I left Brussels national airport by the flight Delta 125 destination Atlanta (Georgia). I was supposed to leave Brussels ground at 10.30 AM but a delay on the flightmade me take the next one, the one from 11.30 AM. Here's my plane at 11.30 in front on the gate. Coming, a 9 hours travel.

Hillsboro

Hillsboro
La ville fut fondée par trois pionniers (David Hill, Isaiah Kelsey, et Richard Williams) qui vinrent dans la vallée de la rivière Tualatin en 1841. Ils furent suivis par six autres pionniers en 1842. La communauté était alors connue sous deux noms : East Tualatin Plains et Columbia. Elle fut nommée Hillsborough en 1850 en l'honneur de David Hill parce qu'il avait vendu une partie de ses terres au comté. Cette même année, Hillsborough fut désignée siège du comté. L'orthographe du nom fut ensuite simplifiée pour Hillsboro. En 1867, la première liaison par bateau à vapeur assure un transport jusqu'à Hillsboro. En 1871 la ligne ferroviaire fut construite au sud de Hillsboro suite à un conflit antre les habitants et la compagnie ferroviaire (la liaison ferroviaire ne fut assurée qu'à partir de 1908). La ville fut incorporée en 1876.

Hillsboro

The city has been established by 3 pioneers (David Hill, Isaiah Kelsey and Richard Williams) who came in the Tualatin river valley in 1841. They were followed by 6 other pioneers in 1842. The community was then known by the 2 names of East Tualatin Plains and Columbia. The city has been named Hillsborough in 1850 in honor of David Hill because he sold a part of his grounds to the county. This same year, Hillsborough has been designated siege of the county. The spelling of the name has been simplified in Hillsboro. In 1867, The first connecting link by steamboat insures a carriage to Hillsboro. In 1871 the railroad has been constructed in the south of Hillsboro after a fight between the inhabitants and the railroed company( the railroad has been assured only from 1908). The city has been incorporated in 1876.

Portland

Portland

Située au nord de l'Oregon, c'est la plus grande ville de l'État et son principal port. L'agglomération peuplée de 2100000 habitants concentre une activité économique importante. Avec Portland, les villes faisant partie de l'agglomération sont Beaverton, Gresham, Hillsboro, Clackamas, Damascus, Gladstone, King City, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Oregon City, Sherwood, Tigard, Tualatin, West Linn, Wilsonville plus d'autres villes situées dans l'État de Washington.

Portland
Situated in the north of Oregon, it's the biggest city of the state and his main port. The built-up area populated by 2100000 inhabitants concentrate a big economical activity.
